Appearance: According to the scientists at Shinra, the incarcerated body of Jenova looks like the blue, disfigured corpse of a woman with a big rack. And however blunt and slightly vulgar this sounds, Jenova's alien form isn't far off from this. In this form her body is as lithe and femininely curved as her human counter-physique, but her skin is thousands of different shades of blue, the strength of the color determined by how much light is cast upon her. Pasty, tentacle-like appendages hang from her hips, resembling a belt of massive snakes that undulate around her mile-long legs. Half-destroyed mechanisms from previous experimentations still flank her basically naked form, including: diffusing needles (still somewhat filled with her cells), blood-stained test tubes, and short-circuited wires. Liquid seemingly drips from her body at all times, giving the impression that she recently emerged from a tank of some sort. Her hair, in this form, is just as glossy and as silver as her son's- from a front view; yes, in the front it hangs in her coal-black eyes (one of which has been replaced by a red, lazer-like orb), but it the back it has been completely singed off, leaving a charred, dark expanse, half covered by the metal helmet that still rests on her head. Along her back sits a set of sinewy, purple wings, which flex slightly, every time she draws breath.

Jenova's human form, obviously, is somewhat less intimidating and much more attractive than her creepy and decadent alien form. Her figure is slight and dainty, and her skin is fair- not sickly pale, or waned. In truth, she looks mostly like Sephiroth (or, really, he looks mostly like her), with a few ultra-feminine altercations: her silvery hair is a touch whiter, and reaches down towards her ankles, and the signature mako-green eyes glint upon her heavily-lashed face with a softness that almost makes them appear blue, making them somewhat aquamarine. Her body would be as completely bare as her alien-form, if it weren't for the shroud-like cloak of black that completely envelops her. This solitary garment sags around her tiny frame, and the heavy hood covers the top-half of her face more often than not- leaving an elusive, charming smirk exposed.

Personality: Jenova is a sweet-talker. She very well could be the greatest sweet-talker in the entire universe. I mean, how many people you know conquered and subsequently shattered an entire planet full of beings by making them trust them? Despite her golden tongue, though, there is a certain "creepiness" that surrounds her every action, every move- like an aura. Actually, this helps her persuade others, as they naturally feel intimidated by her presence. After all- she is an alien.
One would think the Harbinger of Death would amass quite a hefty pile of anger along her destroying streaks. However, Jenova remains cool and even-tempered in the face of utmost annoyance. That does not mean she never bears animosity towards things (I mean, look what she did to the damned Cetra), and its rather easy to tell if she hates you, for she'll slowly slip into her alien-form. She finds it much easier to channel her hatred through those viscous, constricting tentacles.
Her relationship with her son, Sephiroth, is vague. Jenova's emotions are damned near unreadable amongst others, but Sephiroth can detect certain shifts within his mother's mood. And, being as power-hungry as he is, he probably is apt to expose them. Jenova attempts to veil her innermost thoughts and feelings from her son, but there are occasions (however seldom) where she wishes desperately to cradle him, worship him...overpower him.

Abilities/Strengths: Despite minor setbacks (like…oh, I don't know, spending more than a decade as a headless experiment?) Jenova is still powerful. In either one of her forms she has many psi-abilities, including empathy (comprehending others emotions), psychokinesis/telekinesis (moving objects), and the ability to speak through another's mind, telepathy. Her unassuming and somewhat meek persona blends well with these abilities, as she can usually dominate other's minds by talking to them, through them.

Weaknesses: Having spent so much time as an incarcerated corpse definitely takes a toll on a woman/alien. Living on a planet so far away from her own generally drains Jenova of her energy, and however imposing she may be, oftentimes she seems somewhat weak and sapped due to this disconnect. She is also highly disturbed by the fact that her son has had successful attempts at reading her mind, which she uses much of her strength to guard.

HISTORY

Over 2,000 years ago, the Cetra, an otherworldly species, found shelter on the planet Gaia. They decided to rest there, as their journey to the Promised Land was long and arduous. Many Cetra believed that this uninhabited planet was already the paradise they longed for, and so they stayed there, becoming the first humans. Many thousands of years later, their land was mortally wounded by a "fallen calamity,"-or otherwise a mysterious alien- that crash-landed and created a massive crater in the Northern part of the Continent. The calamity introduced herself to the Cetra, and made quite a successful attempt to befriend them. The humans keep their space from her, however, and for good reason: Eventually, a virus that this creature had deposited onto the earth began to infect nearby humans, turning them into powerful monsters. A group of humans escaped the virus, and made attempts to seal the calamity into a stratum within Northern Crater. While they did this, the earth itself created WEAPONS (machine-like monsters) to ward off any further injuries.
These remaining Cetra succeeded in sealing up the fallen alien, and they continued life and regrouped their race. Thousands of years later, two professors employed at ShinRA Technologies (Professors Gast and Hojo) discovered her, lying within the crags of the Northern Crater. They took her lifeless body to Shinra Corporation, and began to experiment on this "JENOVA," as they call it. They found that the presumed Cetra's (or "Ancient" as was also used by now) cells could be injected into humans, and would have highly potent effects, and so they began to experiment with Shinra soldiers, hoping to make unbeatable "super soldiers." However, the experiments couldn't be exposed to high amounts of MAKO, such as these cells had, and thus became great failures. Only the most powerful of Shinra's SOLDIERS could be infused with JENOVA cells. Gast, the more humanitarian of the two Professors by far, left the project after this.
Hojo decided to take a high risk, and impregnated his assistant, Lucrecia, who agreed to have JENOVA cells injected into her body. Soon after their child, Sephiroth, was born, Lucrecia died, and when Sephiroth became old enough Hojo told his son that his mother was Jenova, and that she also had died shortly after he was born. Sephiroth was the Professor's first success, as he became a greater super soldier than Hojo could ever have imagined. Not too long after Sephiroth was named SOLDIER, 1ST Class, Shinra sent him and a group of SOLDIERS to investigate the Nibelheim Mako reactor, after they were given reports that Mako-infused monsters were coming from the area. When they went inside the reactor, Sephiroth found a sort of shrine to his mother- and when he entered, he saw her encased within. Enraged and wholly confused about his past, Sephiroth wrenched his mother's head from her mechanized coffin and attempted to leave, slaying some of the people on the campaign in the process. Cloud Strife, a young SOLDIER that had accompanied Sephiroth, however, slew him at the very top of the reactor, and, as he fell to his death, Jenova's head was lost with him.
Five years after the absurd events in Nibelheim, a clone of Sephiroth appeared and visited Shinra HQ, to take the remainder of his mother's body, which had been kept there. This clone soon rejoined with its regenerating master- Sephiroth himself, who awaited his full renewal within the Northern Crater. Sephiroth would then wreck havoc on the planet, vowing to save his mother Jenova and take her to the Promised Land that the Cetra has eternally coveted.
